Mommy I Want Sinigang!

My daughter loves to eat viand with soup. She's a picky eater then and wouldn't want to eat such food. So I was surprised that her food preferences has changed again this time. She's OK with slurping the soup then eat her rice, she's more satisfied with that.

It was last two days ago when she requested for a pork sinigang.

Ingredients:

3/4 kilo pork, cut into cubes
1 medium onion
bunch of string beans or winged beans if you want
bunch of pechay leaves or kangkong leaves its up to you
bunch of okra and you may add eggplant and fresh tomatoes too
taro root
salt and pepper to taste
tamarind soup base
water

Directions:

Boil the pork with water until tender. Season with a bit of salt and pepper
Add in the onions, tomatoes and taro roots. Let it boil for minutes.
Then add in the rest of the vegetables until half done.
Add in the tamarind soup base last to avoid getting the veggies hard.

Serve and enjoy!

Yummy :)

I went to town but not in the market. So when cooking time for lunch came, mom asked me what to cook. I asked her back what's in the fridge/ref, then she told me there are veggies left and adobo leftover from yesterday. I told her to cook out of what's available.

So she cooked this....

Its like a chopsuey only it was made of beans, cauliflower, broccoli and the leftover pork.

Thanks mom for the delicious meal :)

Beef Broccoli in Cream of Mushroom Soup

I copy this recipe from my Kumare's hubby when I stayed in their abode few weeks ago. I am not sure if beef broccoli in mushroom soup is really what you call it. So if by chance you know this recipe, just do correct me. ;) I am still on my way of learning so much around the kitchen. So again bear with me, hehe!

Ingredients:

broccoli
fresh mushroom
beef (slice it very thin for easy cooking)
1 can cream of mushroom soup
butter
garlic
onion
pepper

Directions:

Heat the pan, add the butter and saute garlic and onion until brown.
Add the beef  and when its tender put the broccoli and mushroom (note: you can blanch the veggies for easy cooking too).
Then put the cream of mushroom soup, sprinkle some pepper and let it simmer for few minutes or until the veggies are OK.

So there my copied recipe. :)

Verdict: I should have added more broccoli, its more yummier. But its almost perfect! You might want to try it also. :)

My Hotdog Recipe

I have neglected this blog I know. Its just that I  have no food photos taken for the entire time I have been away.

I missed joining memes and I'm beginning to revive my so called *desire* to be a good cook.

Anyway, a while ago when supper is near approaching and as it happens all the time, I've been thinking what to cook for my little lady. Especially when I still have not replenish the fridge for new food stocks. There comes the problem, cooking a food out of what's only in the fridge.

A little resourcefulness and creativity, that's what it takes to come up something you can call your own recipe. teehee!

Like the hotdogs I saw in the fridge and it was there like ages already. For a change, I sauteed it in butter with onions and added a little amount of ketchup then sprinkled a bit of Magic Sarap.

Taaadaaaahhh!

I guess putting some green leaves (condiments??) here and there makes it even more delish and attractive.

Nutella Roll

I saw this easy to prepare snack somewhere and I decided to try it also. The original recipe was Peanut Butter Roll but I replaced peanut butter with Nutella instead.

Remove the outer part of the bread then flattened it with a rolling pin. Spread the Nutella and roll then cut it depending how thick you want and put a toothpick to lock.

My kiddo enjoyed it and went home with her snack box empty.

Graham Cake| Vhen and Sasha Style

Last weekend my tot and I was in the mood to make graham cake. Its been awhile since the last time we have eaten a slice.

This of course is not new to most of you or probably everybody knows this already. Since this is a simple recipe and easy to prepare, I also let my kiddo help me do the preparation.

Here are the ingredients, I added marshmallows to be more attractive.

And here's how I did it.
I guess there's no need for 123 directions :)

Easy-peasy.
We made 6 and we added a piece of apple because the fruit cocktail was not enough.
But over all, its a success! ;)

Homemade Stir fried Noodles

This was my first attempt to cook stir fried noodles. It took me awhile to cook this really, because I often forgot to buy the ingredients. lol

It is my favorite snack and it is best paired with steamed/fried siomai.

So I bought egg noodles, sprouted mongo [or is there any right term for it?], tofu and chili paste.

And it is easy-peasy to cook. I guess there's no need to elaborate. ;)

There's a tiny glitch though, the noodles were tad overcooked and it lacked sprouted mongo. What a shame! heehee!

Nevertheless, it's still yummy!

I'm not saying it because I cooked it, but its the truth!
Ask the people who have eaten it, lol

Oh well, just think its my first time.

Cheese Sticks

I want to cook a yummy snack for my tot when she's at home and in school. As much as possible, I want to cook her everyday snack at school.

So my first attempt was to cook cheese sticks.

Note: I'm a newbie cook so bear with my mistakes about step by step procedures and also the terms used. but corrections are welcome. :) Thanks!

Ingredients:

wrapper
cheese of your choice
 Procedure:

cut the wrapper into two equal parts

cut the cheese into strips but must be thick enough or according to your preference

wrap the cheese

and it looks like this

and when done wrapping heat the pan, add the oil  and then fry the sticks

It's an easy-peasy  yummy snack.

My tot even helped me. :)

Here it is... I suggest you cut the cheese more thicker so when you take a bite its more cheesier.

I also made a dip for it. Plain mayo and ketchup then mix.
